Man, I know its early, but if Iowa beats Mayland at home tomorrow, and we beat Rutgers at home on Saturday, we will be sitting at second place in the Big Ten. Let's go Illini!!

Problem with this breakdown is that winning all of the "have to"s and the "should"s leaves us at 18-13. I don't think that's good enough to keep us off the bubble. It MAY still be good enough to get in, but it will definitely be on the bubble.
18 and 13 means we only win seven Out of 15 Big Ten games I’ll take big money on that .

Big time win last night. Guys came to play and were focused and resilient in adversity. I think we forced Wisconsin to play our game which doesn’t happen very often. Ayo was locked in and aggressive like I’ve never seen. Loved his rebounding, assists, dunks, and clutch shooting. Seemed like everyone contributed and we needed every one of them. Overall the best performance of the year imo.

Which was early on and you can't leave AG on the floor with two fouls because you're going to need him late....which played out pretty well.
Don't see the logic there. So you don't need Kofi or Giorgi late? Because they were both out there with 2 fouls at the time. Hindsight's a beautiful thing when you have it?

This debate has already gone on longer than I think it's worth. Like I said, it was overall a well coached game. I'll just end my take with this - with all the productivity AG had, he had the 6th most minutes on the team. Some of that was due to fouls, but tired lungs wasn't the issue there. I've been a DMW supporter all season. I see the value he provides even if he's not scoring. But if he's not scoring and he's not effective on defense, then you should consider making an adjustment. If it's the case where an opposing player is just playing unconscious, then you may not be able to do much defensively, but you can at least try to make it up offensively. For a coach that will pull a player after 30 seconds on the floor for getting a foul (TJ), I just found it weird that he'd let that happen without any adjustments.

Ayo looked like a first rounder in this game. Would like to see him take it left to the basket as well as to the right but this was a tremendous all around game.

Alright, it has been a few years where I've gone pretty dark on Illinois. Lets be honest I believe the end of Groce and the beginning of Underwood has been the single worst stretch of basketball in Illinois history. That is probably a fact. I've also been pretty down on Underwood getting his team to play with a grit and winning instinct but last night was like an awakening for me.

As someone who dabbles in basketball coaching Underwood's skemes and style has actually had a wide range effect on basketball as a whole. My team quite literally runs an offense based off of SFA gameplans. SFA built the blueprint on how to compete without size. But I would be lying if I didn't lose some faith in his coaching acumen at times the last couple of years. I hate to say this but I was doubting that he could compete with the big boys in the Big 10. The league is the best coached league in the nation from top to bottom hands down and they seemed to understand and outskeme Illinois most of the time.

This team is molding into something that you could see becoming a force. Energy, relentlessness, together. Very impressed. A lot has improved over the last couple of games in terms of the second unit. It is not just AG coming into his own but the roles being filled by Kipper and Dre. I agree with Underwood on keeping Damonte in the starting lineup due to the punch the second unit has now. He seems to have gotten this just right.

Last night the game was a complete team effort. Loved the out of time out plays that were run, loved the juggling of the lineup albeit due to foul trouble and loved the passion underwood showed. I give the coach an A, first one of Underwood's time. Winning at Wisky is a very tall task and they are also jelling on the season as illinois does.

Ayo showed true class last night. The assists, the big three, the man sized rebound late, but for me the most impressive play was that driving dunk. He hasn't shown that type of above the rim explosiveness before that play, wasn't sure he had that in him. Also, they run a beautiful highpost curl to an elbow mid range jumper that he can get off the weave. last night I think he was 1 for 3 on it but it is a nice weapon to have and an NBA level play. More consistency from that play will add so much to the team.

I could go on about this game, but lets just say that the team effort and this win has brought me fully back on board, great win. I think a tourney birth is realistic for this squad, it so damn nice to have that goal back in sight.

If this team can go 8-7 the rest of the season I think they will be a lock to go dancing with 19 wins and 11-9 in the toughest conference in the country

Ayo made the clutch shots at the end but AG's clutch 3s set us up. Great win for our program. Let's not underestimate Rutgers.
Ayo said it postgame and so did Wood.....Rutgers is our focus and nobody is overlooking them after the streak they've been on. Frankly, you can't take a single team for granted, it's a meat grinder of a conference schedule.

Clearly you’ve never coached

Well ...........................

For every 2 attempts at the line, we would have got 1 point out of the effort.

So, we got 15 attempts, made 8. IF we had got 23 (which is what WI got), we would have made 12 and won by 5 points and not 1. :)

So, they should have not fouled us at all and taken their chances at a lower %age in FGs.
How many of those trips to the foul line, did we miss the front end and not get a second shot. Those are the unaccounted for killers.
