Why are you all liking this? He’s not playing for Illinois. Last year we didn’t have a team, so ok. But now that we do, he’s playing once again for OHOWIHATEOHIOSTATE?? View attachment 6012
It’s not much comfort to me, but I liked that in his brief video he only mentioned repeating and making money as reasons for joining them. I respect both of those goals. I’d be more upset if talked about camaraderie, friendship, loyalty or some other reason to justify playing for them.

Still, he would’ve been a great addition.

I can understand his motives. These guys are putting their own money into the pot to compete and only the winner gets paid. Makes sense to play with guys you have played with previously and won with too.

I understand it too. Still, I don’t like it.

he’d be like 35-36 but my guess is he’d be fine if he's stayed in shape.
Old? No, he's still relatively young. But last time I saw him on the basketball court (with Cleveland) it was a bit painful to watch. His ankles are just so blown at this point, he couldn't defend anybody. As much as he's probably the Illinois GOAT (in terms of peak powers), I think you'd be better off sacrificing some of his offense so that you don't have a guy out there that can be repeatedly targeted by the other team.

Edit: I say this from a pure basketball perspective. If we're trying to use this to pay homage to some of our greats, then he should definitely be on the team. Or if you want him to play the Larry Bird Dream Team role.

That was in the nba though. We’re talking about a G-League/international league level tournament. That’s why I think he’d be fine. We’re talkin 2-3 steps down from the nba and like a step up from high D1.
