Illinois Football Recruiting Thread

In my opinion RB is even less a position of need than QB. In both of those we can win 6 games with what we have, and I would contend could even withstand a starter going down and not lose much (assuming something about IW). How many other positions can we say that? We will have a significant athletic upgrade on O with the new talent (assuming transfers), but it seems like on D we are looking at a years experience and better coaching to shave the 63 Iowa hung on us. We need athletes on Defense with the last scholies.

south of Curtis, off 1st
per RedCup news Matt Stockman, as to potential spots he goes to :
Auburn
Oklahoma
Boise State
Florida
Illinois
As of right now, Illinois appears to be the top landing spot for Tate. He would be able to start right away with the keys to the offense, and would be joined by former OC Rod Smith who propelled Tate to one of the best statistical seasons in CFB history.

A summer isn’t a whole lot of time to learn a new playbook and compete for a job....so why not go to a school where you already know the playbook and won the starting job as soon as you committed?

Auburn doesn’t run a complex offense. That’s why heyve had success with transfer qbs in the past.

How do you go from not being able to graduate, to being able to graduate in just a couple weeks?
I think Tate and family probably wanted to cool the transfer talk while they analyzed what were the next steps. If Khalil wasn't going to be able to graduate, no reason to burn bridges and make an Arizona return impossible.

The Instagram post sure looks like Tate got the news he was looking for and it just so happens to coincide with word that Arizona is interested in Hurts

Also, hard pass on Tate Martel. Watched QB1 and haven't been a fan since then. Don't think he is the type of kid the program needs
Was just at a meeting with a former tOSU player and he said Martel is not the most popular guy with the Buckeye coaching staff and fellow players. Said he carries himself different than what past tOSU QB’s have in the past. In a negative way. They may not be sad to see him go.

Khalil Tate posted on his Instagram story that he is expected to graduate Summer 2019. Also, saw on Twitter that Vegas has Arizona with the second best odds to land Jalen Hurts. Now why would Arizona want Hurts if they have Tate?
Doesn't Tate have only one year left and wouldn't Hurts have to sit out a year?
