What's up with Raejae Johnson? His highlights are really good. Are we recruiting him hard? Doesnt look like he is getting a whole lot of attention?

I heard we backed off since he said he's not signing until the Spring. Spring could mean April and not February and we don't want another Lawson type of situation.

He could still be an option but it would probably be a Stampley like add if we have the scholarship available. We don't have the luxury of waiting on kids at this point.

I havent been able to find any news on that qb that was rumored to possibly transfer to ILL? Anyone have any insight there? With Thomas and possibly AD, we need a QB that can get them the opportunities they create.

Someone posted the article earlier in the week I believe. The kid from Arizona (Tate) is staying there for his senior year.

Rivers looked capable of being a solid QB last year. Give him a full winter with S&C, Spring ball and then the summer. He has all the physical tools. Plus Rod seems really high on I. Williams potential as QB. Eventually we will have to recruit a high school QB that can come in and develop into a 2 to 3 year starter. May already be on the current roster. Time will tell.

A lot of things have to go right: thomas waiver, big defensive improvement, above average qb (we will see but I hope Isaiah is good enough to win it), no injuries to key players because of limited depth, receivers that can catch the ball at game speed. But looking forward to seeing this talent on the field.

I agree. Thinking somewhere from 4.35-4.38, and it is probably between him and Cumby for the fastest players on the team next year. I'll take Jeff in regard to football speed. There is a serious infusion of speed coming to this team with Jeff, Cumby, and Williams on offense plus Beason and Eifler on defense. The 2019 team will look light years faster than the 2018 team.

I think we should also talk about agility/quickness - this 2019 Illini offense might have the most vicious trio of cut-back specialists in the B1G. Reggie Corbin has the best cutting ability in the conference, Jeff makes people look silly in the open field, and Isiah is the most elusive QB Illinois has ever had. I hope that all of the skill guys stay healthy and we can see all of the studs on the field at once. I cannot wait :illinois:

A DC equivalent hire of Rod Smith would make me very very happy

not sure. next year sched is rather challenging. will need to manufacture 3/4 wins.

The three non conference games should be gimme wins. Rutgers also. I don’t know why we would not expect to beat Minnesota, given how bad it was and all indications are that we are better next year than this year. Purdue and northwestern should be toss ups, given how much Purdue is losing. I think this is a 5 to 7 win team

Northwestern has a top to bottom better roster than we do at this point and they get Hunter Johnson eligible next year. Calling that a toss up is incredibly generous, regardless of whether Thomas can play or not.

6 wins is going to be a dog fight.

If we get Luke Ford and he's eligible to play next year then I think we are top 5 in Big Ten in every position on offense except quarterback.

First, I do not watch enough B1G games to know, but offensive line too? We haven't been top 5 in B1G for offensive line in this millenia, have we?

NU loses players on both sides of the ball. Illinois dropped to many balls and drew penalties. We are gaining more play makers and are young team is maturing. Will see next year, a lot depends on coaching. Not sure their is a talent discrepancy.

Agreed. The dropped balls and stupid penalties. I hope AHS runs a non-stop video of the drops to show how bad most of them really were.

I think we are getting Luke Ford. Jordyn Slaughter just tweeted a photo of him and Luke Ford last year with the Illinois Football jpeg
