So it sounds like we're in much worse standing with tilmon than we were at the end of March? I don't understand what has changed since then. I understand he has had visitors but he has had those offers for awhile. Also, has anyone heard if things are still favorable for us to land Goodwin or is that situation worsening as well?

John Groce, Xavier's Chris Mack, OSU's Thad Matta and UCLA's Steve Alford all here for Nojel Eastern. MSU assistant as well.

Paris Parham is watching Howard Pulley 4-star big man Theo John, who just threw down a big flush.

John Groce is watching 4-star PG Trent Frazier in his EYBL debut. Groce had an in-home w/ him earlier this month.

Illini coaches John Groce & Paris Parham spotted up to see Jordan Goodwin & Tim Finke in the night cap.

Nothing, really. Some people were just hopeful we would lock up Tilmon and/or Goodwin before the recruiting started heating up. That hasn't happened so some people think it's over. For all we know, Tilmon and Goodwin both still love Illinois. But there is a huge difference between loving Illinois and committing to Illinois.

Darnell Jackson, Sasha Kahn, the Morris twins, Thomas Robinson, Jeff Withey and even our own Robert Archibald were all be lower rated players that developed enough under Self to play in the NBA.

A quick search indicates these players were from top 25 RSCI to 60-something RSCI. Given that there are 60 NBA draft picks a year (and the fact that you can't teach height), I don't think Self exactly had to work miracles to get them a shot in the league.

Results and stats from players we're watching after tonight's opening games at Indianapolis EYBL

Goodwin, Finke, Justin Smith, and Tyger Campbell killing it.

Goodwin: 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists
Finke: 17 points, 3/8 3pt, 5 rebounds
Smith: 20 points, 8/9 fg, 3/4 3pt, 5 rebounds
Campbell: 15 points, 10 assists (3 t/o)

Meh: Eastern (shot 3/12; rest of stat line looks good - might have looked good in person), Evan Gilyard (11 points, 2 assists, 1 steal, 0 t/o)

Not great: Verge (9 points, 0 assists, 7 turnovers, 0 steals), Negron (2 points, 7 rebounds, 0 steals, 0 blocks), Theo John (4 points, 7 rebounds, 0 blocks), Trent Frazier (5 points, 3 rebounds, 0 assists)

Nick Anderson was a McD AA out of Simeon, played in the McD AA game 30 years ago in 1986.

And he used to wear his McDonalds AA jersey when he played at IMPE. As if we weren't intimidated enough without it :D

I still find it very interesting that Tugs Bowen is playing for Meanstreets.

I wouldn't sleep on Jaren Jackson, Jr. he recently said Illinois was one of the top 6 he is hearing from. Absolutely tearing it up for Indy Spiece Heat. Groce saw him last week in Brroklyn and this weekend in Indy.

I don't know a lot about the AAU seasons. When does Spring AAU end and when does Summer AAU begin and end?

I don't know if anybody who isn't involved in it knows the answer. Here's the schedule for the Nike EYBL season, which ends with the Peach Jam on July 6-10. I assume Under Armour and Adidas is about the same.

But throughout the summer there are camps and invites and all-star type events. Couldn't really tell you much about that. Maybe someone else on here who's more directly involved can.

Goodwin picked up a Texas offer.

Tilmon and Groce had an in-home on Tuesday.

Crap, if I'm a college prospect, I think going to Austin, TX and playing for Shaka has to be about the most appealing option out there.

Austin is gorgeous and awesome, but don't discount the big boys yet. Goodwin is the type of player every college team needs.
