Far too early for 5 star commits (for us, anyway). The great news is that some of these kids are a lot more receptive to us now.

According to 247 Illinois has offered the following 5 Stars:

#8: AJ Griffin (6-7 SF) | Recruited by Orlando Antigua | 100% DUKE

#11: Khristian Lander (6-2 PG) | Recruited by Jamall Walker
#15: Kennedy Chandler (6-1 PG) | Recruited by Jamall Walker

Also, Kahlil Whitney would have to sit out and could be considered a 2021 5 Star recruit...
I don't expect a response but some additional information that would be super satisfying to hear:
1. Was the 's' in playerS intentional?
2. Did I name the recruit(s) that you're talking about above or is there a new name in the mix?
3. Is there any reason to believe any of the names I struck through are back on the table?
Random gossip about some of the 5 Star players Illinois has offered:
- Jonathan Kuminga is at St Patrick's, the same school Giorgi was at before coming to Illinois.
- AJ Griffin's brother is stepping into a big role for Illinois and his father likes our coach.
- Moussa Diabate used to play with former Illini Samba Kane.
- The Hardy family knows Underwood from when he tried to recruit the older brother to Oklahoma State.
Does that mean Miller isnt coming next year Ward?
Guys Miller is coming next year unless something drastic changes. AJ Griffin isn't one of the 2021 players.

Would it be far fetched to look at the players NOT being recruited by Jamal Walker as those possibilities? Just saying...Some names marked out, that should not be marked out just yet...
My bet is on Christie, he sees what Ayo has done, figures he could slip right into a similar role, and have success as a taller SG in this system. No info, just a crazy hunch!

No info, but my bet would be Holmgren (or maybe Brown) flipping. Holmgren would see what OA and BU have done for Black, Giorgi and Kofi, and also that Kofi not going to be here 4 years. As for Brown, my thoughts would be UI as an option in case Kansas gets hammered by NCAA (not likely if past is a prelude) or Self leaves or both.

This has been verified. No player that commits to Illinois actually goes up in the recruiting rankings, or would EVER gain stars.

Whitney will need a 2020 ride (if he's coming).
I know was simply stating players in the 2021 class, he would be able to play again then with sitting out.
