Not nearly enough angst in this thread, but the year is young and I have every confidence that will change.

New year, new thread. Good time for some gratitude for the man behind the curtain. Thanks for all your efforts Dan.

Question re Pickett: is the listing as a guard accurate? Thought with his height he might be a SF?

Pretty much liking the Smith possibility a lot. With him and Damonte and Frazier, and Lucas only a year ahead of them, it seems the most glaring offensive problem during Groce's era may be "fixed": ballhandling. If Pickett can also handle well that would be fabulous.

Now, about the defense, ...

Happy New Year and Go Illini.

Pickett is a 3/2. Smith is a 1/2/3. Williams is a 2/1. Frazier is a 1/2. Lots of ballhandling, passing and defense.

Another emerging target is PG/Combo TeShaun Hightower who reclassified to 2017 and is having a really good season for Mt. Zion Prep School.

Smith has been itching for this offer. Would love to see him accept.

Considering students are gone on break, couldn't have asked for much more from the game/atmosphere itself, plus a win, for him to be there for.

Me, too. I really he could be an even bigger get than Tilmon if he choose us. Not based on ranking (though I think he'll be top 50 before it's all said and done) but for how he could help us win over his time at Illinois.

He won't even be Top 100...rankings are basically all done at this point.

This kid has as much potential as any guard in Illinois the last several years.

And the other kid I mentioned who reclassified Hightower is tearing it up at prep school and Illinois is going to see him sometime this week too..

I think Groce has decided class balance is overrated.
