Is there a movie on this flight?
Elmhurst
Brad Underwood is in the building at Peach Jam to watch top-100 wing Ismael Massoud & 6-foot-8 forward Dylan Disu in the first game of the evening.

Watched some of Massoud's clips awhile back (when we offered) and came away very impressed. Utter stringbean, but very skilled. Really good handles for a 6' 8" guy. Not a plus athlete, but good enough.

Brad Underwood & Jamall Walker now watching EJ Liddell and Moses Moody of Brad Beal Elite.

EJ Liddell from out of NOWHERE

Four-star 2020 forward Richie Springs (@richie_springs) has made some plays down the stretch for PSA. #Illini offered last month.

I didn’t see Disu’s name on the scholarship grid (although I certainly could have missed it). Have the Illini offered? And anyone know anything about him? Thanks.
A little research shows we have offered Disu. I'll add him to the grid. 2019 SF from Texas.

On a side note, Nate Ferguson from Lemont will make some team a very very good player...gets off the floor extremely quickly and handles the ball very well also...mid major low D-1 prospect overall.

Nice to see staff give EJ Liddell attention publically, I hope they have maintained comms over the last several months. Wonder if BBall is having the same problem FBall is having in the state. Seems to be the recent recruiting success has been better out of state (minus Ayo). Would be nice to get EJ, just seems like an uphill battle.

Love Drew Timme's game. So skilled for a big. Backdown move from the FT line, spun out for a left-handed scoop. And just jumped a passing lane and took it coast to coast for a dunk.

Big man who can do it all & is comfortable anywhere on the floor.

Brad Sturdy@Sturdy32·11h

If there is a better fit for the 5 in the spread offense than Drew Timme I haven't seen him.
If there is a better pairing at the 4 with Timme than EJ Liddell I haven't seen that either.

I feel like this staff is much better at planning than the last administration. You can see them trying to swing for the fences with guys like Kofi, KWhitney, EJ, but then they find other talent like Timme or Shannon that would be just as great in the system. Before it felt like KWhitney or bust. Now it's Kwhitney/EJ/or Shannon...any of them I'd be happy with.

Brad Underwood watching Kofi Cockburn this morning at the #PeachJam

Cockburn has really improved his offensive game. Can hit the 15 footer and has a nice little turnaround. Scored a quick 7 points in 3 minutes. But NY Rens trail CP3 36 to 23 at the half.

Bill Self, Coach K, Danny Manning among the coaches watching this one.

Kofi Cockburn just caught the ball on the block with two defenders in his area. Took them baseline and finished with a one-handed slam on the other side of the rim.

Beast.

Last staff had plenty of options that they offered. That wasn't their problem.

The last staff's problem wasn't unlike what we experienced in the fall with bigs. Plenty of offers, no takers.

Do we have any shot at EJ? If we can't land him, that will go down as my most disappointing recruiting miss, especially after Francis dissed us for the west coast.

So...to make it a measurable.....on a scale of 1 to 10, likelihood we get EJ?

I think your scale might be broken.

Thanks. My question was probably premature. It looks as if BU and staff are looking at a lot of people (I guess that is what "evaluation period" means). And may be making more offers (in which case you may want to hold off on updating the grid for a while).

Some recruiting talking points from a brief interview with Underwood yesterday on WDWS:

- Always scouting and recruiting
- Recruiting every position because you never know what will happen
- Lining up a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th option at every position in case you miss on your top targets
