Ok...so forgive my ignorance and being new to this board, but there was a player named marquise walker from The Chicago area. He was heavily recruited and Illini were favored to land him. He was supposed to be in the 2019 recruiting class and he has really fallen off the map. Did something happen to him? Again...if this is something that I missed I apologize, but this just seems weird to me.

Illinois assistants Jamall Walker and Chin Coleman both here at SFC to watch 2020 wing Jalen Bridges. (Plus Trent Frazier and Tyler Underwood). #Illini

Lots of Illinois targets. Illinois mentioned with Curbelo, Steward and Kalkbrenner. Not mentioned with Foster, Cross and Bridges.
Ten most intriguing recruitments in 2020 class

No one had a better showing at Nike’s Peach Jam than 2020 wing Addison Patterson. Illinois, Oregon, UCLA, USC and others are all in the mix.

DJ Steward has booked an official to Louisville on the weekend of Sept. 27th for their Louisville live event.

Has already taken an OV to Texas and plans to take OVs to Duke and Carolina as well.

He signed with Kansas City Community College.

I'm figuring we can all stop talking about Steward now.

We have any "edge" or "in" with Steward?????? Rather stiff competition.
IIRC, Duke is his dream school, so conventional wisdom says we should move on.

I'm sure the coaches will still pursue bc that's their job, but there's almost no confidence in him choosing UI.

With a visit list like that I’d agree. We’d need a miracle to win that recruitment. Or possibly hold a family member hostage. (We WONT hurt them, I promise)

OVs reset August 1st if I recall correctly. So we should have about 14 freed up from the 2017-2018 recruiting season.
I think Illiniguy was referring to the fact that Steward gets 5 OVs and asking if he would use his last one on the Illini.

As of right now the focus should be Miller, Kalkbrenner and Watson imo. I believe that’s our most realistic class, along with maybe a transfer or late commit.

I hope we focus on guys we can get. Would really like to think we can close on guys we target initially. I know we're not exactly a destination at the moment, but we should have a good team on the floor this season, and assuming we project as a tourney team, we should be able to get that monkey off our back.

I'd be ok with some middle ground...maybe a few swing and misses...maybe not a full class, but 2 commits in fall season isn't asking too much, this 1 every other year is tough.
