I don't think Chris Payton is good enough. Nothing wrong with continuing to evaluate him, but he's not a guy that moves this program to the next level.

Next level? Nope. I too didn't think he was good enough. Then I saw him play against Ayo, Miller and Morgan Park (check that, Ayo didn't play). Came away impressed. I think he can be a pretty good B10 player. And, at this point, it's time to turn up the heat.

Does anyone know what payton's aau numbers were like? Just curious to see how they stacked up against our other targets. Or I guess I should say former targets

Seeing JUCO's pop up tells me the staff is started to get desperate. It's hard not to take this as a bad sign.

Understand your thinking, but it is case by case. There are many D1 talents in JUCO sports that are doing their time for one reason or another, not related to ability. If we are going after those types, we may find some luck; obviously going after top 50 high schoolers hasn’t worked.

Payton averaged 21 a game and 12 rbs a game. Why is he not an option?
Why are high school stats your measuring stick? Let’s play a game here. Tell me which player you would like more. Both played/are playing D1 ball, but here are their senior high school stats.

Player A: 6’8” PF. 33 ppg, 11.7rpg,
Player B: 6’8 F 19.7 ppg, 8.7rpg

I wonder how many posters criticizing Payton have actually seen him play. He’s a good player and would be a great mid major player but a potentially good high major. I think he’s worth a scholarship given our current frontcourt. He’s turning into a much better player than his brother who had some pretty high potential as well before before he switched high schools.

Could we at least know the conference or division? Anything below 3A can be pretty much disregarded.

Atticus Taylor is a name that just popped up. He's a kid from Davenport, IA playing at a junior college in Mississippi.

Should have tried to get Marlon Taylor, ILLINI were interested at one point....kid was top kid in NC i believe as a HS, Juco now at LSU. I mean if we have to go the Juco route, why not get one with a 50 some " vertical for crying out loud...

What mid major? He will not be great there, and certainly would not be "potentially good" high major. Everyone has an opinion and is entitled to it, this kid would be nothing more than a cry for help, and quite frankly if he is our 1st commit, it may do more image damage than any potential play upside. BTW he would not be and could not be a frontcourt player in the B1G in year 4 anymore than year 1....just mine.
