We all know this is a disturbing pattern that is the product of the defensive design and lack of a rim protector. What is more concerning is that not only do we give up bunnies at a disturbing clip, we also give up a very high number of WIDE open 3s. I would like to see someone with coaching experience break down what is wrong with our help defense. Everyone watching can see on almost every defensive possession we are helping with sometimes 2 guys (to try to create a turnover I presume) and teams are finding open men either slashing to the basket (the player the 1st or 2nd help defender left) or sitting at the 3-point line. Underwood knows this but I think our guys are over helping and then not getting back between a man and the basket in time.Iowa State shoots a cool 18-30 (60%) from 2 pt. Of those 30 attempts, 24 were dunks or layups.
