First, congratulations to Mike! Well deserved. I'm a fan of the short white kid that can fill it up because I was once one, but not nearly as good as MLT.

My hope is this. MLT gets into a game because of unforseen circustances, is somehow able to light it up and gets some more minutes as a specialist.

There was a kid named Will Tuttle, probably a walk-on, who became a star for a couple of games when things went south because of the Deon Thomas thing. I maybe mixing this up, but I do remember Will. MLT reminds me of him.

In any case, I would love to see MLT as the head coach of this team in ten years or so if he wants it. He could have gone and played a lot more minutes somewhere else, but he chose the almost certain bench here. The kid is an Illini favorite for me forever.

So I have a couple questions if you guys would be so kind to help me out. If we put him on scholly, how do we take him off since they are guaranteed now?
The 4 year guarantee was just voted on, it doesn't go into effect immediately. And when it does, I suspect it will apply when an athlete signs an LOI with the school, i.e. an incoming freshman, not a transfer or a guy like LaTulip who gets one that comes open.

Why didn't they do this the 1st 2 years? We've had at least one open every year he's been with the program.
Didn't have one open last year. 10 guys playing plus Cosby, Starks and Paul sitting out their transfer year.

MLT is a cool guy, partied with the team a couple times and he seemed to always be the one making sure everyone stayed out of trouble

Unrelated small argument I'm trying to settle. What's is the chant during the zombie nation pregrame song. Best I can hear is We Are, and I can't make at the rest

I ran into MLT, Mav, Ekey and Colbert at the Marketplace Mall over a year ago while Christmas shopping. I chatted with Mav and MLT the most. MLT is a cool guy. Well deserved.

I can actually see him being an assistant coach when it comes to recruitment down the road.
