If you have another reason please provide it as a reply. Thanks, Konnie
Yeah crazy how a motel 8 in champaign is like 150 on game day. weekends.Lack of affordable hotel options. I'm not gonna drive down 3 hours, watch football, then drive back 3 hours.
Can someone please provide me what you feel is a reasonable rate? I always drive down from Chicago and back the same day so I had no idea that a Motel 8 is $150 on game day.
Tried to go to a basketball game last year with two buddies and could find nothing but Sunday games. This meant that we didn't even consider staying overnight or really spending any time other than the game. Luckily we choose the Nebraska game and saw a good Illini win.The basketball schedule (not specifically ours, I'll admit) is really not conducive to being able to get down to Champaign. Weeknights, Sunday nights, etc. Try to go to UC and to the Northwestern game as much as possible.

There's also next to nothing on AirBnb. You'd think there would be a market there on game weekends.
I don't know about Champaign, but I know that Urbana really cracks down on AirBnB'ers with their rental code. They basically make it illegal to do outside of apartment complexes.
I came down for the game last night. Wanted to stay in Champaign. 2.5 star hotels were $275 a night. $275!! Motel 6 was around $150. Booked Hotwire in Bloomington for $59 plus taxCan someone please provide me what you feel is a reasonable rate? When I lived in Chicagoland, the 11 am start times are killers if you want to do any tailgating. That's why we would pick one game per year and come down Friday and leave on Sunday. We'd get a good sized group and make a weekend of it. However, as we get older, there are other things that start to take priority and it's harder to get that same group together as much.
If the games were at 1 pm, like they were in the 80s when I was down there, would make it easier to just get up and go.
Yup. My friends and I are splitting a motel 6 for a game this season. SPLITTING a Motel 6.I came down for the game last night. Wanted to stay in Champaign. 2.5 star hotels were $275 a night. $275!! Motel 6 was around $150. Booked Hotwire in Bloomington for $59 plus tax
