82-69 Penn State. I believe we will be the 12th seed. 11-20 (7-13). Last year 14-18 (4-14). So I guess a little improvement in the bigten. But man this Indiana loss has taken me out of wanting to watch them in the bigten tourney. Hope for better days go Illini.

And yet, after all of this mess, they’re still in control of their BTT destiny. I think PSU is a particularly bad matchup, but it is what it is.

This team sure made quick work of all the positive buzz and momentum they had built up. Pretty pathetic imo, regardless of the experience on the roster. We will lose this game and probably by quite a few points. The first 20 loss team in the HISTORY of Illini basketball. Yikes Brad.

I'll be there! I live in Baltimore and the UI/Maryland game just had to be the one that got moved to a neutral site this year, so I'm making the drive up to State College . Hoping for a good game, even if I don't expect a W after last night's showing.

I'm really concerned about the defensive plan on off the ball coverage...playing so far off the opponent and trying to keep your eye on the ball and the opponent has led to way too many layups and dunks...whatever happened to staying in front of your man with hands up and actually defending him and keeping him AWAY from the basket...

I'd rather lose by the opponent hitting 3's than a slamdunk and layup festival like we have seen the last 2 years...this D isn't working and that damn weave isn't either on offense...

FIRST 20 LOSS SEASON IN ILLINI HISTORY.....let that sink in for a while......

But didn't we only win 2 conference games last year? 20 losses is bad, no way around that but who did we beat that were anything special in the non-conference outside of Missouri? This team isn't good, but we knew they wouldn't be at the start of the season. Need more pieces and time to mature. Next year will be the year that really tells me where the Underwood era is headed.

Hard to be optimistic after the Indiana game. No idea how these guys will play, but there's a lot on the line. But there was a lot on the line with Indiana, and they didn't have energy.

As the season draws to a close, I'd expect to find out what they're made of, and I'm not liking what I'm seeing. With no chance at an at-large, that's a huge blow to morale, so it's tricky to get these guys in the right mind-frame with the BTT coming up.

This is where coach has to earn his money IMO. You have to get guys psyched up to play the actual games. Hard to do under the circumstances.

A win would be completely unexpected...which is amazing to say about an Illinois vs. PSU game...but I hope we at least fight and make them earn it. Just need to get that IU taste out.

Agreed
With Dosunmo and Feliz gone after next year, Griffin and Jones are going to have to make dramatic progress. Look like Underwood is going to have to pull some Ayo like rabbits out of recruiting hat this year or next.

Sunday’s game, at 11 a.m., will solve the mystery. An Illini (11-19, 7-12 Big Ten) win means they have a bye. Otherwise, they’ll have a Wednesday date at United Center in Chicago.

In last Sunday’s loss to Indiana, that lack of effort reared again in a flat performance that allowed the Hoosiers to dominate the lane and thrash the Illini defense to spoil what otherwise was a strong offensive showing from Illinois. Why exactly that effort hasn’t been present in two games in the last two weeks is unclear. Fixing that problem is the key to Illinois getting back to where it was during a four-game winning streak in early February.

It seems easy to say we were out toughed, but we don't physically match up and yes we were beat up but is it lack of effort? Would be amazed to win this game as it would have to be called very closely for us to have a chance. Can't wait for Kofi and Antwan to give us some enforcement on the glass.

Small is the issue. Getting pounded on the glass, not having a true shot blocker at the rim and getting bullied around the basket will have a tendency to make the optics of the loss particularly rough. I suspect Stephens will have his way again, not because our guys aren't trying, but because he's too much of a load to handle for the guys currently on the roster. Same with Morgan for IU.
