Too often Underwood is quoted saying "We missed X amount of layups, if we make 1/2 of them we win". I want to ask What does Underwood count as a layup?

Usually if a team makes 1/2 of the shots they missed, they will win, no matter what type of shot it is. Why does he not say when you miss seven out of every ten shots one takes one will almost always lose.
