I'll be there. I'm marrying into a family of Terps, however, so I will be escorted by the enemy.

Give me hope? LOL. If we lost THAT basketball game by 12, I don't even want to think about this one. Major respect to you, Nathan, for going. I sat in Carver-Hawkeye Arena last weekend and watched a 95-71 loss, so hopefully you have better luck; it's not a fun feeling.

Please no Kipper. He has played 39 minutes the past three games and has 0 points, and 2 assists. He is literally nonexistent on offense and plays some mediocre defense. I know that it doesn’t help that much in the long run, but you might as well give Kipper’s minutes to Tevian and Alan at this point. If I were them and were only playing sparsely and then see Underwood snag a wing like Brown I would probably think about transferring.

probably ?

Fernando and J. Smith will chew us up and spit us out......

Terps are for real and a lot better than the morans from the immediate west.

Fernando really is a nightmare matchup for our bigs. Have to hope he gets in foul trouble early

My wife and I will be there. We'll be the ones wearing orange. We were also at the Maryland football game. Yes, we're gluttons for punishment. But if we--that's the collective we--aren't behind our team, who will be? Here's hoping that the substantial number of Illini in the Eastern Seaboard will make the trip. A win is unlikely, but certainly not impossible. Here's to Orange Koolaid.

This team needs a leader. Kipper has one of the lowest BBIQ's on the team. Typically, a leader is one of your more cerebral players, able to be a coach on the floor as well as a motivator (not to mention being a great player as well). Trent has the makings, as does Ayo.

This team plays scared way too much. Trent's confidence can only get them so far. DMW has the stroke to be at least an average shooter, AG the same (though he's actually shot well for the most part). A guy like Tevian stepping up would be huge, he seems to have the same kind of confidence Trent does.

If you have an open shot, take it.

Looking at another loss, for sure. Individually, we have some players. Unfortunately, the sum of the pieces isn't really there.

I look back at our loss to Michigan, and that was fun to watch. Not as an Illini fan, but as a college basketball fan (which more and more I've been forced to become). They had so many weapons, spread the floor, and could put in different line-ups. They are really rolling, and they're not pulling in 5 stars on the recruiting trail --just a lot of 4 star guys that really fit.

The disheartening thing is that our biggest concern going into the season was the 5 spot. Giorgi has really excelled and done better than we could have hoped but Kipper has taken a step back. Now our wing play is our biggest weakness. Losing Both Black and Finke really is turning out to be a dagger. Tevian missing 8 games where he would have gotten some tick doesn’t help either....

I'm not chocking up any of our remaining games as an L after that Minny game. That performance would have beaten anyone in the B1G. Maybe it won't happen again, but it's confirmation of possibilities. Sure it was an off night from Minny, but even if they had played to their averages, we still win.

So I guess it's a season of Finding Bigfoot.

Underwood: Going back into the Wisconsin game, it was fairly frustrating. Had Happ in foul trouble & had him where he didn't make a big impact. We got great shots. Missed 16 layups & 10 FTs. Even if we finish half, we're in great shape.

Underwood: Wisconsin capitalized on the mistakes that we made on defense in the 2nd half... Messing up a coverage or not making a switch.

Underwood: Bruno Fernando is a top big in our conference averaging a double-double. Anthony Cowan as quick as any guard in our conference. Good pieces around them. This game will be a lot about the glass. Have to limit their opportunities there.

Underwood: Cowan is probably the smartest kid in the league as far as drawing fouls

Halftime will be tied at 35.

Maryland will pull away in the second half and win 80 - 68.

Trust the friendly cat.

What is the definition of a LAYUP?

I'm beginning to think my idea of a layup is different than Brad Underwood's. I think a D-1 college basketball player should make 90-100% of layups (the defender might block it or otherwise cause a miss). According to BU, we missed 16 last game. Is he stretching the definition to just about anything that's not a 3-pointer?

BU's comment had me scratching my head too. I'm guessing that he counts any shot off a drive to the hoop (expect maybe a floater) as a layup, even the ridiculously awkward contested shots.

Too often Underwood is quoted saying "We missed X amount of layups, if we make 1/2 of them we win". I want to ask What does Underwood count as a layup?

Given our FT % as well, I would ask what is Brad focusing on during practice? Certainly does not appear to be shooting skills or technique.
