I don't see the problem with continuing our texas pipeline and also bringing in a fertile ground like Atlanta into the mix. Won't get the top guys but I'll be glad with 2nd tier in that region. Our biggest quarles with the coaching staff has been recruiting, and now that we're making steps to fix that we should be skeptical?Lovie’s “status”, whatever that is, doesn’t matter to those kids the same way it doesn’t in TX which is his actual home state. Those kids get offers from coaches with names bigger than his.
Prioritizing that area won’t work.

twangers is saying, something like, research shows that Successful recruiting for almost every university happens with border states. He disagrees with the notion that Illinois will establish effective enough relationships with that area.
I get what you're saying but I want to awake the "sleeping" dragon that's Illinois by being able to grab recruits from fertile grounds while also keeping up our efforts in the areas we've focused on to this point. However as long as we get wins I could care less where they come fromUniversities in the Midwest primarily and more to our case programs that lack a national footprint. The metrics go back over a decade.
Lovie had put forth a misguided approach to recruiting early in his tenure, an ATL/GA strategy will follow suit. It won’t work.
But, that doesn’t mean these guys can’t coach.
Clemson, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, FSU, Georgia Tech and the great majority of the other SEC schools...........We don’t have a TX pipeline.
You can walk a thousand steps a day on a treadmill and never actually go anywhere. The steps we take need to be headed in the right direction. That direction is not ATL/GA.

I don't see much value in prioritizing the ATL area.. We aren't going to steal kids from those programs. I'd focus on making inroads with 50% of the Top 30 from Chicago and STL.
Appreciate having you weigh-in, Josh. How about 9-3 this year?Lovies the man for the job. He's a rock building something great. The pyramids weren't built in a day. Stability's all I ask for, and I think I've found it
The jury is way, way out on these hires. I certainly think both of these young guys are hungry and will get after it, recruiting-wise. But, on face value, pretty underwhelming adds.
Very nicely put. A well paying position at a P5 school is a golden opportunity for a coach in their positions. Let's hope they make the most of it. Seeing an Austin Clark move to the NFL after occupying a similar position for only 2 years has to be a huge positive.Young hungry guys has been thrown around here. I love that. @Gritty would always say what he wanted in a coach was his career depending on what he did at Illinois, like PJ Fleck at Minnesota. This is a great opportunity for these young guys and their futures can be heavily impacted by their time here. So they should be very motivated to succeed. I am content
Yea, but I don’t have that long left!Lovies the man for the job. He's a rock building something great. The pyramids weren't built in a day. Stability's all I ask for, and I think I've found it
So, we need aliens to build our team?Lovies the man for the job. He's a rock building something great. The pyramids weren't built in a day. Stability's all I ask for, and I think I've found it
I'm convinced Josh Whitman's not from this planet. We needed a special being to bring our sports team's out of the abyssSo, we need aliens to build our team?
