Offense and defense can rejoice in beatdown

In a positive move for Illini football, weekly star Vic Koenning was obliged to share the spotlight with Paul Petrino and Nathan Scheelhaase on Saturday.
Not that the defense was lacking. For the eighth straight game, Koenning's 15th-ranked unit (nationally in points allowed) presented a rugged front. But Petrino's attackers scored twice in controlling the first 15 minutes for all but 1:35, and a 14-0 getaway set the stage for a 44-10 home rout of Purdue.
