Weber takes blame for Illini's season after loss to Purdue
February 16, 2012 7:31 AM
It sounded like a concession speech from Illinois basketball coach Bruce Weber, the guy who seven years ago led the Illini to their only national championship game appearance in school history.
After his Illini dropped a 67-62 decision to Purdue in a Big Ten Conference game Wednesday for their seventh loss in the last eight games, Weber threw up his hands and looked back on where it all went wrong.
Instead of building a program, Weber worried about winning and didn't sit players to develop toughness and accountability.
