Illinois-Michigan preview
March 1, 2012 11:50 AM
Prediction - Michigan 66, Illinois 64
Illinois owns a 13-game winning streak against Michigan at the Assembly Hall -- the prorgram's longest current streak against a Big Ten opponent. Both have plenty to play for -- Illinois to inch closer to the NCAA tournament bubble, Michigan for a potential Big Ten title. The mood around the Ubben Basketball Complex was quite refreshing this week, actually. Players were loose and coaches were hard at work. Minutes after practice ended Tuesday, three coaches raced out of the facility to hit the recruiting trail. They haven't thrown it in yet; that isn't Bruce Weber's way. But we've got Michigan in a final-possession decision. The Wolverines know what they are; the Illini got away from what they were. For the sake of Illinois' NCAA tournament chances, hopefully we're wrong.
