Illini Demolish Ducks, Ascend Polls

Illinois combined a rare showing of offensive firepower with its routine defensive suffocation to blast the Oregon Ducks 89-59 Saturday night in Portland. Dee Brown had 15 points at the half (and a handful of NBA threes)—26 for the game, Rich McBride added 13, and Marcus Arnold was strong off the bench with 11.

Rankings-wise, the 10-0 Illini shot up to #9 in the AP and #8 in the ESPN/USA Today poll. Looking ahead, the Illini should be 14-0 when #12 Michigan St. comes to the Hall for the Big Ten opener January 5. Filed under: Illini Basketball, Oregon Ducks
