The Big Ten Network
August 27, 2007 11:43 PM
This Thursday, August 30, the Big Ten Network will launch and bring to its viewers
non-stop Big Ten sports action including 39 football and 140 men's basketball games.
To date Illinois has 2 football games scheduled on the network: the home-opener
September 8 vs Western Illinois and the November 3 contest at Minnesota.
Former Illini running back great Howard Griffith will provide studio analysis
on football Saturdays for the network along with Dave Revsine and Gerry DiNardo.
Will you get to watch the Big Ten Network? For those of you in the Champaign area, the answer is yes if you have DIRECTV, and no if you have Comcast (Insight). Comcast wants to put it on their "sports tier", where customers who want the network would have option of paying extra to receive it, while the Big Ten Network wants to be included in a non-subscription general tier of channels. Stay tuned. Meanwhile, to see if your area will receive the Big Ten Network go to their official site and enter your zip code in the box on the left column.
