Illini Run the Ball on Syracuse

Syracuse
Illinois (2-1) racked up 378 rushing yards Saturday afternoon in its 41-20 demolition derby of the reeling Syracuse Orange (0-3)—the Illini's first victory in a dome since 1994. Rashard Mendenhall had a monster game with 150 yards and 3 TDs. The competition ramps up next week with the start of the Big Ten schedule and a trip to Bloomington, Indiana. Last year against the Hoosiers, Illinois built up a 25-7 lead before the game crumbled into a Homecoming disaster. A win against QB Kellen Lewis and IU would propel the Illini to its first "big" home game under Ron Zook the following week—a matchup against conference front-runner Penn St.
