It's startling the think that Illinois hasn't won a Big Ten opener since a 28-10 win at Purdue in 1993. Indeed, the opening games following that win against Purdue, Michigan, Michigan, Iowa, Iowa, Michigan St, Michigan, Michigan, Michigan, Wisconsin, Purdue, Michigan St, and Iowa did not turn out well. That in mind, it's surprising that the 2-1 Illini are slightly favored on the road against 3-0 Indiana tomorrow, a critical contest that could get the program half way to its first bowl berth since 2001.
