The future home of Illinois basketball comes down to two choices: build or renovate.
The question sits on the desk of Illinois athletics director Ron Guenther, already the architect of a massive construction project that began when he was an assistant AD in 1983 and continued when he was promoted to the top job in 1992. Guenther's fund-raising abilities and fiscal planning have secured $175 million in gifts for capital improvements on the south edge of campus during his tenure.
