Pace, expectations picking up for Brit Miller and the Illini

"I'm living the dream," said Illinois' senior middle linebacker.

In less than two months, Miller will be living college football at a pace unlike anything he has ever known. He replaces All-American linebacker J Leman as the vocal signal-caller of the Illini defense and in preparation for a work load that will nearly double, Miller is trimming down and gearing up.

"I'm going from 45 plays plus special teams to about 80 plays plus special teams," said Miller, who moves from outside linebacker to the middle in order to plug the gap left by the graduation of Leman. "I've dropped about 22 pounds and I'm feeling good. I'm 239 now and I was up to 261 when I hurt my foot at the Rose Bowl. I couldn't do much but eat and lift weights."
