Michael Hoomanawanui

"For the first two years, Big Ten football was kind of hard," Hoomanawanui said this week. "I wasn't sure of myself. I had a lot of things to work on."

At first, Hoomanawanui battled fellow freshman Jeff Cumberland for playing time at tight end. But once Cumberland was shifted to wide receiver, Hoomanawanui began to seize the bulk of the playing time. And even though he had just five catches last season (two went for touchdowns), offensive coordinator Mike Locksley unveiled a new-look Hoomanawanui this past spring.
