The Mendenhalls - the gift that keeps on giving

Dear Mendenhalls,

Say what's on your mind. Don't be beat around the bush. If you complain and don't provide specifics, people will perceive you as ingrates. And our enemies will conveniently ignore the fact that you didn't provide specifics and use it against us. Thus, you play into their hands. You're on their side.

Still, wounds remain. In a June interview with the Champaign News-Gazette, Rashard Mendenhall said, "As long as Ron Zook is there, it will be hard for me to support the University of Illinois football team."

[Rashard] Mendenhall said Sunday [7/20/2008] he doesn't feel that way because of his brother's situation or because he didn't start until his junior year, but he offered no specifics.

"We feel bad about it," Zook said of the Mendenhalls' disappointment. "They were instrumental parts of our success this past year. You don't want anyone to leave on a sour note."

Oh really? It's not about your brother... Then what? Spill it.

The fact is, after 2006 Rashard was a good but extraordinary fumble-prone back for a 2-10 team that would not have been drafted.

Now, after a record-breaking and MVP 2007, Rashard is about ready to cash-in as a 1st-round pick for the Steelers. So while you prepare to count your millions, say what's on your mind, or stop running to the media like a whore starved for attention.
