Illini enjoy break before start of Big Ten season

Illinois
Juice Williams experienced a rarity for a September weekend: Nobody hit him.

For the first time in his Illinois career, the junior quarterback had an week off during the season. In both 2006 and 2007, the Illini played on 12 consecutive Saturdays.

"It's great to have a weekend where you're not constantly getting hit," Williams said. "It lets the body recover a little bit. You can catch up on things in the classroom. It's great all around. The only bad side is it kind of knocks you out of rhythm. I think it's going to come out to our benefit."
