With Minnesota coming to Champaign on Saturday, Illinois coach Ron Zook is sounding the alarm on his kickoff-coverage unit, which is allowing 28.6 yards per return, 118th out of 119 FBS teams.

The Gophers are second in the Big Ten and 18th in the nation in kickoff returns with a 24.9-yard average, and freshman Troy Stoudermire leads the conference with 28.2 yards per return.

Kick coverage a concern for Zook

"This is a good, good football team, a much-improved football team," Zook said. "They're doing very, very similar things to what we did last year. They're playing with unbelievable emotion. The coaches are running up and down the sideline with unbelievable emotion...they can move the ball against anybody in the country. All you've got to do is watch the Ohio State game."

Guenther's letter to Illini football fans

Miller, who will graduate with degrees in history and speech communications after 31/2 years in December, averages four to six hours of community service a week.

"Sometimes we don't do much except go and hang out,'' Miller said. "It's just being ourselves and talking to people. That's the great thing about community service. It can be so simple sometimes. We're in a good position to do it. I don't see why people don't take on community service more.''
