Season mercifully concludes for football

The Illini's (5-7, 3-5) 2008 football campaign was put to rest by Northwestern Saturday. The 27-10 loss to the Wildcats caps a season of disappointment, inconsistency, and, like 2002, a nose-dive back to mediocrity after one highly successful season. The 2009 season kicks off September 5 at St Louis vs Missouri.
