The new Illini offensive coordinator: TCU's Mike Schultz; Tom Sims let go

Illinois will name TCU offensive coordinator Mike Schultz to the same position early next week, a source close to the Illinois program told The News-Gazette. Schultz will coach the Illini quarterbacks.

Schultz replaces Mike Locksley, who left Illinois to become head coach at New Mexico.

While Schultz would fill one vacancy, another opening was created when defensive line coach Tom Sims was let go.

Sims just finished his fourth season with the Illini, after joining Zook's staff from the University of Minnesota.
