Illini show they're 'not special' with loss to Michigan
January 5, 2009 11:14 PM
Tied with 6 minutes 13 seconds left, Illinois made just one of its final nine shots and couldn't stop Michigan on the other end of the court. The loss was Illinois' first in 33 days and seven games, reminding everyone that it's not going to be easy -- no matter how much the win at No. 9 Purdue on Tuesday validated the Illini's resurgence.
"I told them we'd find out how good we were at Purdue,'' said Illini coach Bruce Weber. "I told them today we'd find out if we were special. Right now, we're not special. I think we have the opportunity to become that. Right now, we're not."

"I was amazed. I've seen Chester do that same exact dunk on Mike Davis in practice...and he told us he was going to get someone. We was just playing like, 'Nah, he ain't never going to do that.' And when he did it, everybody jumped up and down and started chanting. I just was in shock. I couldn't even move. He shocked me."
