Big Ten basketball standings

+/- = 1 point for a road win, minus 1 point for a home loss. (Zero points for a home win or road loss.)

The +/- stat weighs a team's results weighted by performance at home vs on the road. The idea is that wins on the road are much tougher to come by than wins at home, and this stat gives you an indicator of how tough or easy the results were for a particular team in conference play thus far.

So even though Michigan is 4-4, they're -1 in the +/- and will have to steal one on the road to stay ahead of Ohio State and Wisconsin who are both 3-4, but both 0 in the +/-.

And Illinois, while only 1 game back in the wins and losses column, has some serious work to do to catch Michigan State, who is already 4-0 on the road in conference.
