Jereme Richmond Sun-Times Player of the Year
March 6, 2009 8:26 AM
The 6-7 Illinois recruit was the only player in the area equally deadly from the post or the perimeter. His quick hands and shot-blocking ability also make him a dominant defensive force.
Richmond has augmented his natural physical gifts with a deep, studious approach to basketball. Anytime he speaks about the game for more than a few minutes, he inevitably starts to talk about game tapes.
''I watch basketball all the time -- on old tapes, on YouTube, everywhere,'' Richmond said. ''I've learned things from all of them. Kevin Garnett, even the older guys like Wilt Chamberlain.''
