In any scenario, though, Illinois would be losing its top defender, its heart-and-soul, its barometer for toughness and a senior leader everyone on this team looks up to.
It's a very sad situation for Frazier himself, who wanted to make a final mark on the program by having a memorable post-season.
It's potentially a sad situation for the Illini team, which is already thin at the guard position and which must now find a replacement starter (Jeff Jordan or Calvin Brock) and which will need to coax some important minutes from Alex Legion.
