"We're borderline cocky" - Western Kentucky coach Ken McDonald
March 18, 2009 11:31 AM
Western Kentucky prefers to spread defenses with a guard-oriented offense and create mismatches with undersized, athletic big men. Of course, the Hilltoppers must also defend the Illini big men. The Hilltoppers' only starter taller than 6-feet-5 is 6-9 junior Jeremy Evans.
"They're a typical successful mid-major team,'' said Weber, who spent the 1979-80 season as a Western Kentucky graduate assistant before leaving with Keady for Purdue. "They're guard-oriented, perimeter-oriented with multiple weapons that put you in a bind. Their four man can go out on the court and shoot some 3s.''
