Illini kicker faces fight for his job

With coach Ron Zook, it's what have you done for me lately.
While it's hard to determine if competition is real or imaginary during spring drills, Zook contended Wednesday the decision at placekicker could come down to the last few days before the season opener - just like last season - between Eller and Rockford Boylan graduate Derek Dimke, a sophomore this fall.
"Matt's done it,'' Zook said. "Derek has got a leg. Derek's kicking as well as anybody right now. The ball is coming off his foot. Just because one guy was the kicker last year doesn't necessarily mean he's the kicker this year.
