Football team to make a game of it Saturday

Illinois has improved its talent level enough to make a game of it, coach Ron Zook believes.
So when Illinois plays its spring football game at Memorial Stadium Saturday (1 p.m.), Zook will split the squad evenly and play a game, he said Tuesday, instead of pitting the offense vs. the defense.
"We'll try to split the team up into two teams and see if we can do that a little bit,'' he said. "We feel like we've raised the athleticism of the football team. We feel we can do that. We can make a game of it. Last year, we just had the offense vs. the defense. The year before that, it was the first-string offense against the second defense. The year before that, it was the best against the rest.''
