Weber would get 50 percent raise under new deal

The University of Illinois board of trustees will vote next week on a contract extension and raise for basketball coach Bruce Weber, who would receive a 50 percent boost in pay if approved.
The proposal would give Weber a total compensation package worth $1.25 million retroactive to May 1 and increase to $1.5 million on Jan. 15, 2010. His contract would be extended through 2015.
