Illinois ranking in Total Offense (out of 119 FBS teams): 19th
Illinois ranking in Scoring Offense (out of 119 FBS teams): 40th
I did a little research. Of the 18 teams ahead of us in Total Offense, the worst discrepancy in these two statistics, apart from ours, belongs to our old friends Louisiana-Lafayette. They were 13th in yards but 24th in points (a difference of 9 - nowhere close to our 21). Every other team ahead of us had a points ranking within 7 of their yards ranking. Oregon? 7th in yards, 7th in points. Penn State? 14th in yards, 11th in points. Nebraska? 12 in yards, 17th in points. BYU? 16th in yards, 20th in points. Texas? 9th in yards, 5th in points. Illinois? 19th in yards, 40th in points.
