Backup QB Eddie McGee leads victory over ISU

"We didn't feel like there was any use to stick him back in there,'' Zook said. "Juice wanted to go. He fought me at halftime a little bit. It's more important to get him healthy and ready to go.''

McGee was 13-for-17 passing for 164 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed for 55 yards and two touchdowns while the Illini overpowered Illinois State for 384 yards rushing.

"We're blessed to have two quarterbacks,'' Zook said. "Eddie did well. He threw a couple bad balls and ran a couple times when he should have handed off. That's the most he's played since he's been here. It will help him down the road.''
