Pass defense a big problem for Illini
September 16, 2009 9:05 AM
The gameplan against the Illinois defense this season seems to be give maximum protection against the pass rush, throw quick passes and see if you can break a big one.
In the first two games, it worked. A pair of quarterbacks making their first starts threw for 679 yards and five touchdowns against Illinois, and the Illini rank last in the Big Ten in pass defense.
"I don't listen to the noise in the system,'' Illinois coach Ron Zook said, "but I have the same concerns as everyone else.''
