Illinois football 2009: Dereliction of coaching duty

No one saw it coming because no one understood how derelict the coaching staff is. The talent is in place for this team to be 8-4. Our 4-year starter QB has been misused and his confidence destroyed. His backup, likewise, has had his confidence trashed. The best running back, clearly seen from the outset (LeShoure), has been forced to be part of a quartet. Our bona fide star and projected first round draft choice, Rejus Benn, has been virtually invisible and hasn't caught a TD pass in 7 games. Our secondary sucks, granted, but some of that is that they, like every other group on this team, is poorly coached. We have the talent to win and play in a bowl, but the team has been coached out of any possibility of success.

The coaching failure is disgraceful and ruinous of the futures of a number of players. I honestly think that if Ron Zook had any awareness whatsoever, or a sense of honor, he would resign, even before the end of the season. I believe he's too thick to realize what every fan, opposing coach, broadcaster, and his players know: that he's flat out a terrible coach.
