Bruce Weber offers no defense for Illini's struggles

According to the Pomeroy ratings (kenpom.com), the Illini rank 100th in the country and seventh in the Big Ten in defensive efficiency. By comparison, Illinois was ranked fourth in the country in that statistic last season.

The Illini also are 10th in the Big Ten in scoring defense, allowing an average of 66.4 points per game. The Illini have missed the defensive prowess of Chester Frazier, who could consistently guard the opponent's main scorer.

"We've got to figure out how to guard somebody," Weber said. "It was my fear going into the season."
