Fresh start bad for Illini

"We were up at halftime, but we should have been up 10 or 12 probably," Davis said. "Then in the first five minutes of the second half, they came at us and we played catch-up the rest of the game."

Purdue made five of its first six shots in the second half to grab the momentum from the Illini (12-7, 4-2).

While outscoring the Illini 11-2 to start the second half, Hart had five points and Moore four as Purdue took a 39-34 lead that quieted the Assembly Hall. But Weber agreed that Illinois should have had a much bigger cushion at halftime.
