Weber cuts off access to Illini after second-half collapse at Northwestern

After building an eight-point lead in the second half, the Illini scored just one field goal over a span of 10 minutes 16 seconds. Northwestern double-teamed guard Demetri McCamey, and the Illini offense couldn't adjust. A team lacking toughness, leadership and defense showed all of those weaknesses while losing to Northwestern for the first time in 12 games.

Then Weber cut off access to the players in a strange twist. Instead of letting the Illini explain it for themselves, they were ushered onto the bus.

"The decision for players not to talk to the media is mine,'' Weber said. "They don't talk to each other. There's no way they should talk to (the media). I went to the locker room, and no one said a word. Until they start talking and taking leadership, they're not talking to anyone else.
