Something to build on

Hang a big gold star on D.J. Richardson, who on Wednesday played a whole lot more like a junior than a freshman. He helped defend Talor Battle (as well as he can be defended) and he scored a career-high 20 points. He was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line in those final two minutes and his accuracy was a steadying, soothing feeling as Illinois neared the finish line.
