McCamey's cool at Kohl

It was the fifth straight victory for Illinois (17-8, 9-3), which is looking more and more like an NCAA tournament team after ending Wisconsin' 18-game home winning streak.

And it was the first time the Badgers (18-6, 8-4) have lost a home game to an unranked Big Ten opponent under Bo Ryan. The Badgers, who are now 51-1 in that category, are 65-6 in Big Ten home games since Ryan became their coach in 2001-02. And Illinois has handed Wisconsin three of those losses.

''To come back from the excitement of the win against Michigan State, to start slow but still find a way to grind it out, I couldn't be more excited and proud of our kids,'' said Illini coach Bruce Weber, who knows this win will mean more on Illinois' resume. ''There's no doubt. Michigan State was great, but Dick Vitale said, 'You should have won.' This could make up for some of the early setbacks. It's a top 10 or 15 team, and no one beats them here.''
