Michigan's fall

Coaches around the Big Ten are at a loss when it comes to Michigan's losses. The Wolverines were ranked No. 15 in the preseason AP Top 25 poll but is in danger of finishing the season with a sub-.500 record. "It's hard to say (what happened)," Bruce Weber said Monday. "I think on given nights, I think every coach in the league would tell you they're a dangerous team." Chemistry seems to be an issue in Ann Arbor. It's never good when your best player - Manny Harris in this case - was suspended after an incident in practice. John Beilein doesn't play favorites, either. In 2004 as the coach at West Virginia, Beilein dismissed leading scorer Drew Schifino from the team. With four difficult games left in the regular season - Illinois, Ohio State, Minnesota and Michigan State - Beilein sounds like a coach focused on building toward next season. "Getting this program so that we don't go through this, where we don't have depth or where we're forced to play freshmen, it's going to change, but it takes time to do it," he said.
